It's a Theme Park Jim But Not as we Know It

IT’S A THEME PARK JIM, BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT

Dubbed ‘edutainment’ Wannado City is a child-sized version of a real city, with 2/3 size buildings, homes, shops and theatres, a hospital, hair salon, bank, airport and  vehicles.  Children, aged 2-14, learn all about the adult world and the value of money and work by experiencing up to 70 different professions.

In this scaled down bustling metropolis, kids can experience what it feels like to fly a plane, fight ‘fires’, service a car, bake a pizza, teach, run a bank and even perform ‘open heart surgery’ on a highly sophisticated dummy using genuine surgical tools attached to a computer screen which rates their progress.

They wear kid-sized versions of real work uniforms and are even paid ‘salaries’ in a specialised currency called ‘Kidzos’ which they can spend in the park.  The idea is to offer children an almost real-life business and social environment, familarising them with actual careers and the economy. To avoid any interference from over-enthusiastic adults, parents are allowed to watch but not participate.

Coming to a Country Near You

Originally called Kidzania, the first two parks opened in Mexico and the third is located in Tokyo.  A fourth just opened in Jakarta and there are more scheduled to open in Dubai, Lisbon, Barcelona, Santiago and Seoul.
