So many of you 'Newbies' have told us of the fun you’ve been having through internet site Meetup.com.   We just had to write a feature!

 

What is Meetup?

 It’s a worldwide site dedicated to bringing people together to participate in shared interests and activities.  As Meetups’ organisers say ‘Let’s find the others. The ones that want the same thing’. 

Want to join in?

It’s easy!  You just type in your city and either type in the activities you’re interested in or bring up the whole list and pick from what’s available.  You’ll be amazed at what you could be getting up to!  There’s a veritable smorgasbord of activities within 25 miles of Edinburgh.  Here’s just a small selection:

Groups range in size from just a few people to literally hundreds!  What’s really great about the site is that members post photos and little profiles on group sites so you know in advance what sort of people have joined that group and whether someone you’ve already met has signed up for an event you fancy.  And you can even talk to directly and individually to other group members by posting a ’shout’.
