Mediation

Mediation

What is Mediation?

Mediation is a process by which a legal dispute can be resolved without taking it to court. A mediator is different from a lawyer or solicitor in the fact that they are neutral and do not pass judgement on either side of the dispute.

When Should you Consider Mediation?

You should consider mediation if you would like to resolve your dispute as quickly as possible or if you believe that your case is too sensitive for the courts.

Who Can Requestion Mediation?

Any person involved in a legal dispute can request mediation.  They can make the request to their lawyer or to the person they are having a dispute with.  They should do this before becoming involved in litigation with their lawyer. It is possible to have the presence of lawyers in the mediation process in order to receive legal advice and support.

What Does it Cost?

The cost of mediation is normally based on how complex the case is. The Human Law Mediation website says that generally a full day of mediation would cost between £2000 to £3500 plus VAT.
