FELINE GRACE – FEATURE HOME

An eclectic and fascinating Aladdin’s cave of objets d'art and travel paraphernalia united by two major decorating themes – the cool airiness of  the colonial look married with the stylish decadence of  Art Deco.  The resulting fusion is elegant and timeless.

The dramatic drawing room is saved from visual confusion by restricting the colour palette to just three colour themes – black, white and brown/gold.  Bold patterns and shapes are given centre stage by deliberately playing down the background scheme – white walls, white curtains and bleached floorboards.

30’s decadence is evident in the dramatic zebra skin rug, leopard print cushions, stylised figurines and the glossy walnut finish in the furniture.  The colonial theme is introduced by many African and middle eastern objets.

The second sitting room has a more restrained theme though the luxury remains evident in silk upholstery and stunning artworks.  The travel theme is continued though this time with a slightly more Eastern feel.

The master bedroom has a simple, almost monastic scheme – the perfect background for the dramatic wrought iron four poster which dominates the room.   Luxurious bedding and some well chosen antique pieces complete a scheme that’s stunning in its simplicity.

30’s stylisation and the travel theme reappear in the en-suite.   The bespoke walnut cabinetry and sleek pared down fittings add a retro theme to an otherwise 21st century room.  Dramatic black and white prints and travel-related objets continue the home’s main decorating scheme.  Floor to ceiling mirrors dramatically increase the visual impact of what might otherwise seem an oppressively small room.
