FEATURE HOME OF THE WEEK
This is the perfect example of 19th century meets 21st - all the airy, beautifully proportioned elegance of a three-storey townhouse with an eclectic mix of modern finishes, designer furniture and classic antiques. The resulting fusion is unique, quirky and simply stunning.
Entering at street level there’s an imposing reception hall with a painted cast-iron fireplace and a striking feature chandelier. The original doorway has been opened up to incorporate grand double doors which lead to a vast, character-filled drawing room.
Elegant hardwood floors continue through to what could just be a mish-mash of furniture and a riot of colourful accessories and objets d’art. However, these have been chosen and arranged with deceptive care and the result is creative yet studied and elegant. The door to the hallway has been opened up to reveal a grand staircase, painted an unexpected shade of scarlet.
The stairs lead down to the basement level kitchen and dining areas. The dining room beautifully combines a modern designer table and chairs with two nineteenth century armoires, a contemporary sideboard and a most unusual bespoke light fitting formed from bent plywood.

The black lacquer Miele kitchen has a central cooking island set into a practical stainless steel bar with stools – perfect for cooking and chatting over a glass of wine.
The beautiful glass splashback has inbult mood lighting and the frosted glass doors keep light flowing through the lower space.
The home contains two striking bathrooms – the master en-suite with a two-person jacuzzi set into Italian slate and the smaller bathroom panelled in exotic wenge with Phillippe Starck fittings.
Altogether this home exudes elegance, confidence and character – a truly unique tour de force!
