Why Facebook Fans Fail
facebook fans are failing exams, facebook ban in offices, effects on study

New research into the impact of social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace and Bebo, suggest that they could lead to significant underachievement.
These findings confirm what parents, teachers and employers have long suspected.
Indeed, more and more offices are now imposing a total ban on sites like Facebook to try to prevent employee distraction and damaging time-wasting.
Around 83% of British 16-24 year olds are believed to regularly use these social networking sites. Says the reports author Aryn Karpinski, researcher at Ohio State University:
‘Our research shows that people who spend more time on Facebook spend less time studying. Every generation has its distractions, but I think Facebook is a unique phenomenon’.
The report showed Facebook users had significantly lower grades, generally the equivalent difference between getting an A and a B.
