Edinburgh Children's Shows Xmas 2009-10

EDINBURGH CHILDREN’S SHOWS XMAS 2009-10

PETER PAN
– Lyceum Theatre

Children’s classic. Three young children are taken away to a land of adventure by the magical flying boy Peter Pan!  JM Barrie’s legendary boy hero soars onto the Lyceum stage to entertain, astound and inspire. Gasp as Peter, Wendy, John and Michael (not to mention Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys!) do battle with the wicked Captain Hook and his pirate crew. It’s a world where crocodiles go tick-tock, fairies are real and children can fly – a place where dreams really come true!

ZORRO - Traverse Theatre

A flurry of a cape, the glint of a sword and a flash of a mask; who is this baffling character? If you looking for some swashbuckling fun this Christmas, come and lock swords with Zorro.

Watch as the masked champion ricochets from one sticky situation to another in a world where adventure is the name and justice is the game!

ROBINSON CRUSOE & THE CARIBBEAN PIRATES
– King’s Theatre

A swashbuckling, fun-filled adventure.

Features the usual peg-legs, shipwrecks, tropical islands, parrots and pirates.  With the occasional beautiful mermaid thrown in for good measure!

SINBAD + THE LITTLE MERMAID
– Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh

Atlantis is home to the Little Mermaid and the Pearl of Beauty, a jewel with magical properties. When Crabsclaw, the evil witch attacks the peace-loving Merfolk of Atlantis in search of the Pearl, the Little Mermaid swims ashore for help. She meets Sinbad the Sailor, who lives on a ship in Fisherow Harbour.  Together they set off on a quest to ask Neptune, Lord of the Seas to defeat the Sea Witch.

CORSTORPHINE RD NATIVITY
– Festival Theatre

Acclaimed writer Tim Firth lifts the tea-towel of festive cheer to uncover a hotbed of complex inter-personal power politics also known as...the school Nativity!  It’s a Nativity with a difference because adults play the children. As the class gets ready they find themselves caught up in an hilarious, chaotic world of mishaps, misunderstandings, unrequited love, fluffed lines, fallings out, cardboard props, Christmas Carols and brazen upstagings....

ALI BABA – Church Hill Theatre, Morningside

Edinburgh People’s Theatre (EPT) transport ‘children’ from 3 to 93 to a magical, fairytale land with the fantastic adventures of Ali Baba. Sunny Baghdad is the ideal family resort for those in search of hilarious adventure. The accommodation’s excellent, with hot and cold running sand and bedouins in every room. There’re bargains galore in the old bazaar: penny haircuts at Ali Baba's and Fatima's snake pie as the local fast food.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC
– Edinburgh Playhouse

This lavish and critically acclaimed production comes direct from the London Palladium and tells the uplifting true story of the Von Trapp family’s flight across the mountains and works its magic once again, for young and old alike.

With its unforgettable score it touches the hearts of all ages and brims over with some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage.
