You know you are 40 when...

Edinburgh Girl's picture

I loved this article having just turned forty myself i really identified with the truisms, i just want to add:

I have started to like red wine and olives - something I never did before and my husband who has also turned 40 has suddenly taken to gardening like a duck to water! is there a switch that opens up a new cupboard of knowledge otherwise unknown in our brains when we turn 40!  How did you know you turned 40 - or any other age to that matter?

I too turned 40, earlier this year. I try to think young but my skirts get longer out of necessity. Mini skirts just aren't right after a certian age! I find myself buying sensible knickers too!

Once was a time when no-one under 40 WANTED to wear tartan!  I'm nearly 50 and I'm despairing at the number of times the same things come around again and again.... and the distances between each time get shorter and shorter.  Oh heck!

You know you have reached 40 when... you are not talking handbags and shoes, but recipes, sore feet and medical problems you associate with your granny...

Last but not least, you can only manage one night out and it takes 3 days to recover

You know you have turned 40 when you start to think about wearing a knee length skirt with your winter tights and boots instead of a short tartan one!
