Did they push the boundaries too far and should they be sacked.
Having listened to the recording, sounds like young boys drunk and yes i think they should be suspended. what gives them the right to treat people so disrespectfully.
So what you're all basically saying is that so long as someone is funny they can do what they like? So when kids make happy slapping videos of soemoen being bullied is it OK so long as its funny? What sort of role model is that? Yeah OK it was late-night. Teenagers stay up late. TEenagers are impressionable and from what I've seen they don't need much encouragement to be cruel. Just occasionally should we not send a message that it's possible to go too far and be really hurtful to someone who's completely innocent? (Andrew Sachs). As for the granddaughter - well if she's prepared to sleep with a man like that I guess she has to expect a less than rough ride. Its Sachs himself I feel sorry for. Incidentally he's been a model of graciousness.
The reason that Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand are so popular is that they are extremely funny innovative, and individual, this type of comedy pushes the boundaries and breaks the rules. The programme that caused so much offence is a radio 2 late night show that has a slot where Rusell used to phone up people to wind them up. on this occasion he crossed the line and got it wrong and upset Andrew Sachs. Uncharacteristically, so did Jonathan Ross, who usually keeps within the boundaries in his friday night show, which is one of the highlights of the television week, and now very much missed by many people, of which i am one.
They have both apologised, Russell Brand and a radio 2 member of staff who sanctioned this pre recorded show and approved it to be broadcast have resigned, ( a great pity in my view, as i feel that if the Beeb had not let this through in the first place we would all be enjoying these two very funny and much needed comedians)
They are all responsible for a silly and hurtful prank that was in poor taste, but i am flabbergasted by the amount of people who are incensed by this mistake, and feel that there are many more worthy causes for people to be concentrating their emotions on. Jonathan Ross is a good husband and father by all accounts, and has really intelligent sense of humour in my view. I will be very glad when he is back.
