Over age sex

Why is it assumed there's a certain age beyond which you just shouldn't have sex?  Surely so long as you're fit enough its a free source of pleasure and a natural physical extension of love which doesn't stop at a certain age?  I'm nearly 50 and hate the thought I'm on some sort of countdown.....

I do think it depends so much on the individual. I still love it and haven't set a date for stopping!
