family wagon - is the Ford Smax better than the Vauxhall Zafira?

I need to get a new car to cart my family round and really need 7 seats.  I currently have the Vauxhaul Zafira, which i do really like except for that fact it is so underpowered and wheel spins on wet roads all the time - even when i drive carefully!  Is the Ford Smax or any other mini MPV better i would love to hear your experiences and tips - thanks
