Back to Work Training

I have hear a few of my contemporaries talking about back to work programs of re-training especially in computers. Does anyone have any information on this matter or could recommend any training courses?  I am keen to get working again after a 8 year break to have my kids and am so excited by the prospect of getting back into work but i can hardly even switch a computer on - please help
