Foolproof Makeup for a Youthful Glow

This season's look is dominated by a fresh, dewy transparency that's perfect for long summer days and evenings.

Nude Lips

Neutral coloured lips are one of this season’s must haves.  Nude lippy  adds fullness and a dewy, youthful glow.    Don’t imagine that nude is another word for naked (and, therefore, easy)though.  The nude look should enjoy just as much expertise and preparation as a deep red Mata Hari pout! 
 
First apply lip balm to soften, even out and prepare the lip.  Then smooth foundation over the entire lip area to create a neutral base.  Apply a shade of lip liner that’s only slightly darker than your lip colour and take the liner slightly over the edges of the lip to create additional fullness.

Choose warmer toffee and butterscotch lip colours rather than very pale shades.   Finally, add a sexy slick of lip gloss for a truly smouldering pout.

Luminous Skin

If your skin's less than perfect – and that probably means most of us – you’ll find mineral based foundations will give you a dreamy, air-brushed look that’s far more flattering than more moist foundations.  This is particularly true on older skins where the reflections will highlight any imperfections and lines.

Molten Eyes

Precious, molten metals are a big look on this seasons’ catwalks.  It's true that over 35’s have traditionally been warned to steer clear of metallics because the colour settles in lines and emphasises them.  However, the secret is to keep the metallic colour strictly on the lids and place a co-ordinating non-metallic colour on the lower part of the eyes.   Coppery bronzes and golds look terrific on olive skins while blondes sizzle with silvery blue or lilac shades.

Beguiling Blush

For a fresh, dewy summer look, try ditching your dark contouring blushers in favour of a translucent, slightly pearlescent highlighter.  Although in general pearly colours will draw attention to fine lines, cheeks are usually a safer bet as they’re plumper and less dry.
